Potency tests are designed to determine the concentration of the active ingredient(s) in a compounded preparation. This test should be conducted to demonstrate that the potency of the active ingredient(s) remains within product specifications for the course of a preparation’s shelf-life. When testing for potency, the concentration of an active ingredient is measured using a reference standard.
